For more than 15 years, Cypress Insurance Group has sponsored a "Day to Wear Denim" to support charities that are important to us. Lee Jeans gave us the original idea to help raise money for Breast Cancer Research. It’s simple idea. For a $5 donation, we allow our employees to wear jeans to work for one day. Since then, we have sponsored many Denim Days. We continue to support that research but now include additional days to raise money for local homeless shelters, veteran’s groups and disadvantaged children.
On August 10th we had another successful Denim Day benefiting The Backpack Project. Christ Church has collected backpacks and school supplies for children in need who attend Broward County public schools for the past 10 years. Last year, Christ Church donated nearly 900 backpacks filled with needed supplies to 23 public elementary through high schools and a handful of local ministries.
However, this time we added a twist to our Denim Day. For every $1 donated by our staff, Cypress would match the donation. We were so happy to be part of this wonderful project and were able to raise enough money to purchase 10 backpacks filled with supplies to help make the first day of school a success for our local kids!
